The Coolest Place in the World...

It has been a little while since Les and I have been able to go somewhere because my weekends have been pretty well booked. I had an event get cancelled last weekend so we decided to take full advantage of it and get out of town. We took Joe Morgan and Micah to St Louis to the City Museum, a place Micah and I had been before and really loved. I have to say that this could be hands down THE coolest place on earth. If you have not been I HIGHLY recommend you go. It is in downtown St Louis and it is not your typical museum. Imagine a place where there is the most beautiful and unusual pieces of art everywhere and everything is meant to be touched or climbed on. Kids disappear behind benches and trees and into crevices everywhere. The whole place is basically one big playyard. There is a section of tree houses and caves, industrial area with a four story spiral slide that is crazy fast!! (If you have not yet then check out the video on my profile, it’s dark and you can not see but you will hear the greatest sound on earth....a true giggle:) ) A slide goes from the 3rd floor to the first if you don’t want to take the stairs. As a matter of fact most of the caves and everything are pretty dark so if you have a kid that’s a little nervous in dark places I recommend one of those little head lights that they can wear. Don’t even begin to attempt to carry a flashlight or anything else for that matter. I had to bring my camera along but it was a pain to keep constantly rotating it around. Where to really begin when there is so much. First off I showed them one of the secret passageways in the tree so that Joe Morgan would know what to start looking for. Then we went over to this bench where there was a small hole beneath it and wiggled down through it to find ourselves in a shaft that went underneath the floor of the main room. In the giant tree trunk Micah went first but when she hit the narrow part where you have to lay flat out and just wiggle through she got stuck and caught the giggles and couldn’t move so I was trying to shove her through...then got myself stuck and giggling as well....she ended up pulling me out. We climbed through caves where I kinda got used to hearing "Oh its really dark here let Stina go first". Keep in mind in all our pics that we had no light other than the flash on our camera. Outside we climbed all over the side of the building, through planes and gang planks. Micah laid on her side to slide along the bottom of the walk FOUR STORIES ABOVE THE PARKING LOT!! We watched part of the circus where kids performed some pretty cool stunts. Visited the Bizzaro Beatnik Bar for a little break. Had some pics taken in a photo booth...I have to scan those in! We had intended to spend a few hours there then take the kids for lunch somewhere fun. Six and a half hours later we decided we were not going to be making it anywhere else so we headed out and stopped by one of my old favorites the Trailhead Brewery for dinner. The kids pretty much passed out as soon as we got back in the car...which was a good thing since AS USUAL I got pulled over AGAIN!! What else can I do anymore but laugh. State Rod got me in St Louis, pulled me over, comes to the passenger window and says "Do you know what you were doing wrong?" I of course said no. He says...."You were speeding, following to close, never used your signal, have expired tags and a kid that is not in a booster seat. Can you do ANYTHING right?" Then he says, "Do you have any excuse as to why you can not follow any of our rules?" I smiled and said "Cause I am a country hick?" So after he paused to get his serious face back on, he lectured me a little and let us go. THANK GOD!! You know no trip is complete without a little drama. LOL Needless to say it was an awesome way to spend the day. I was so worn out and sore, my knees and shins are bruised and skinned. My arms and back ache. But I can’t wait to do it again!
